Life is Hard, But You Have Options

Life challenges everyone, but finding a path to joy is possible. A wise friend once told me, “Today will come, and today will go.” This reminder grounds me during tough times, and it can for you too.

For those struggling with mental health, showing up at work while masking your struggles is exhausting. You’re not alone in feeling this way.

The Struggles of Empathy and Burnout in Demanding Careers

As an ND (neurodivergent) empath, teaching drained me. After 18 years of teaching Spanish, I felt the weight of:

  • Absorbing students’ challenges.

  • Managing overwhelming to-do lists.

  • Constantly giving without receiving appreciation.

This cycle left me physically and emotionally depleted. Understanding my late-diagnosed AuDHD brought clarity. Like many high achievers, I had gone under the radar. Do you relate to this?

Remote Work: A Game-Changer for Mental Health

Transitioning to remote work changed everything.

  • No more insomnia or Sunday Scaries.

  • No more feeling stuck in a draining routine.

This shift improved my well-being and that of many ND friends. We traded burnout for balance, and you can too.

Parenthood and Prioritizing What Matters

Becoming a parent forced me to reassess my life. I was merely okay as a teacher, wife, and mom, and that wasn’t acceptable. Something had to change.

Good News: Your Skills Are Transferable!

Here’s the exciting part:

  • You don’t need to go back to school.

  • You don’t have to start over.

  • You can find a role that aligns with your strengths and brings you joy.

Your lived experience and transferable skills are assets. It’s time to pivot to a career that respects your mental health and fulfills you.

Your Job Shouldn’t Diminish Your Well-Being

You don’t have to dread your job or sacrifice your mental health for it. There are options, and you deserve better.

Take Action: Design a Life You Love

If this resonates, it’s time to explore a new direction. Let’s work together to uncover your options and build a future you’re excited about.

Support and Hope Are Within Reach

Today is #WorldMentalHealthDay. Check in on your loved ones. If you need support, call or text 988.

Remember, there is joy on the other side of struggle. Together, we can pave the way to a fulfilling life.
