This Job Can Get Pretty 𝓢𝓽𝓻𝓮𝓼𝓼𝓯𝓾𝓵. How Do You Practice 𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲?

It’s one of my favorite interview questions to ask a candidate:
“This job can get pretty stressful. How do you practice self-care?”

Recently, a client absolutely nailed this question — calm, thoughtful, and with practical examples that showed they could handle pressure without burning out.

But then they followed up with something brilliant:
“How does your company encourage self-care?”

🚩🚩 The answer?
“Well… sometimes we let people come in an hour later than normal.”

Yikes.

Here’s the truth: as much as a company is assessing whether you’re right for them, you’re also assessing if they’re right for you.
Pay attention to how they value their team’s well-being — or if they even
do.

Your career is a relationship. You wouldn’t settle for a partner who ignores your needs, so why settle for an employer who does?

Hold out for a great match. Your health, happiness, and long-term success are worth it.
